At Dadojo.co, we’ve built a vibrant, community-driven space where martial arts and personal growth come together. Central to this mission is Coach Randy, a dedicated mentor whose passion and unique approach have inspired countless students. Discover his journey, coaching philosophy, and the vision that drives him to create lasting transformations.
For Coach Randy, coaching is more than a career—it’s a calling. "Gyms, especially fight gyms, have a unique community. I love surrounding myself with driven, tough people and celebrating wins with them,” Randy shares. Coaching, for him, is as much about personal growth as it is about teaching others. Every drill, every victory, and every challenge contribute to a shared journey of development.
Coach Randy’s path began with a simple request to improve his Bang Muay Thai technique. Encouraged by Sensei Bobby to lead the kids’ class, Randy faced a challenge that would shape his coaching style. "If you can coach kids, you can coach anyone,” Randy explains. This experience helped him develop the ability to adapt his teaching methods, breaking down techniques in ways that resonate with students of all levels.
With a specialization in mitt and pad work, Coach Randy has refined his craft through years of practice. Whether running mitt/pad classes or preparing fighters for competitions, his hands-on approach ensures every student feels confident and prepared. "I developed my skills through Bang Muay Thai classes and extra reps during open mat sessions,” he says. Randy’s commitment to mastering his art makes him a standout coach at Dadojo.co.
A Philosophy of Perseverance Randy’s guiding principle is straightforward: “Nothing important comes easy.” He emphasizes showing up and giving your all—whether you’re a beginner learning the fundamentals or a fighter preparing for a big event. His tailored approach ensures every student’s goals are at the forefront. From competition prep to building confidence, every session is intentional and impactful.
For Randy, the greatest rewards of coaching are the transformations he sees in his students. From helping a busy student achieve her yellow belt to guiding a shy child toward confidence, these moments remind him why he does what he does. "Watching people grow and succeed—whether in the gym or in life—makes everything worthwhile,” he reflects.
Dadojo.co stands apart with its approachable and inclusive atmosphere. "Our gym welcomes everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned fighters,” Randy explains. “The diversity of experience creates a supportive environment where everyone feels at home.”
Even seasoned coaches face challenges, and for Randy, it’s overcoming imposter syndrome. His solution? Training with some of the best martial artists in the state. "It’s like drinking from a fire hydrant—you’re overwhelmed by how much you can learn,” he says. This mindset keeps him growing and evolving as a coach.
Outside of coaching, Randy is a devoted family man and music lover. Fun fact: he was crowned the 2012 Rock Band Champion of Farmington, Utah, winning $200!
Coach Randy’s goals are rooted in helping others achieve their best. He’s focused on expanding one-on-one training opportunities, with the ultimate aim of being remembered as a teammate and friend above all else.
